Welcome to the official website for the

Dunlop and Lugton Community Council

Congratulations to Miss Ellis Wilson.

Here is the text of a letter sent to her from the Community Council earlier this month:

Miss Ellis Wilson,

(Address withheld for privacy)

I am writing on behalf of our Chair, Mr Tom Howie, and every member of the Community Council, to congratulate you on your participation in the Equestrian Events at the Special Olympics World Summer Games, 2011, held in Athens earlier this year, in which over 7,000 athletes from 180 countries took part.

I am sure it was a fantastic experience meeting other young people from so many different countries. New pen friends perhaps?

I understand that, unlike the Olympics and Paralympics, Special Olympics riders do not travel with their horses. You and your friends had to ride strange horses, unfamiliar with their ‘little ways’ which must have made it more difficult, but the results for your team were terrific just the same!   While you might not have won a medal, you had three 6th place finishes in the top tier of competition! Your Equestrian Head Coach, Nancy Peters said it all – I am so proud of them all – with or without medals around their necks!’ All of us here in Dunlop agree with that!

Very well done and very best wishes for the future from all at the Community Council.

Yours sincerely,

Jim Miller, Secretary.

It's your Community Council and you are welcome to all the meetings and / or to participate and share in the information about what is going on.
